Using PDF files in gCADPlus

It is not uncommon to be asked to work with a base plan for a site that is in PDF. Sometimes the pdf can be placed directly into gCADPlus using the PDFINSERT command that you will find on the Tools drop down menu.

There is considerable variation in the type of PDF files written by various applications and sometimes the command fails.

We have added a new task to the gCADPlus wish list – improve PDFINSERT but for the meantime, the workaround is to use one of the online conversion tools to convert the PDF to an image file.

All that’s required is to scale the image and we can begin to take of quantities for a tender document.
