gCADPlus landscape software runs happily on Mac computers provided that the processor is Intel based* and some form of Windows emulator application such as CrossOver, Parallels etc. is running. gCADPlus also runs under Linux distributions.
*Most recent Mac computers (purchased post 2006) are Intel based.
We use CrossOver on our iMac as the Windows emulator, but we have many gCADPlus designers using Parallels and/or Fusion. Here is how to install gCADPlus on a Mac using CrossOver – a Windows emulation tool..
1. Install Crossover
Use your browser to search for and download and install the demo version of CrossOver on your Mac.
2. Download gCADPlus
Here is the link to download gCADPlus.
3. Install gCADPlus on Mac under CrossOver
*One user reported problems using gCADPlus under version 17.5 of CrossOver – the drawing shut down unexpectedly. He installed CrossOver version 17.1 and all was well.
Here is the link to download and install CrossOver 17.1 on your Mac.
Remember, a free version of most Windows emulators are available to trial, so install one first, then install gCADPlus and run in demo mode before purchasing gCADPlus.
About the Crossover trial
Crossover offer a free, fully-functional 14-day trial of CrossOver Mac. The free trial of CrossOver Mac takes about one minute to download. Your trial period begins as soon as you launch CrossOver the first time.
When your free trial ends CrossOver will stop working, but any Windows programs like gCADPlus you’ve installed or run during the trial are still there. Once you purchase a CrossOver license you can remove the trial timer and continue using your Windows software on your Mac – there is no need to reinstall gCADPlus.
