Running Access 97 & Access 2000 concurrently |
|
We recently had occasion to install Access 97 on a PC running Access 2000. We wanted both versions of Access available to us. The installation of Access 97 went smoothly and we were careful to put Access 97 in a different folder (in fact we used a different drive). However, when we started Access 97, the Office 2000 installer took over, and ran Access 2000 in started of Access 97. Very frustrating.
A variant of the same problem is experienced even if you run the Uninstall program on Office 2000 before trying to install Access 97. Access 97 will not run, reporting a 'no authorization message', even though we have entered our correct product registration code. Presumably Access 2000 leaves some residue (in the Windows registry perhaps) that prevents Access 97 running.
We have not yet found a solution to the problem, apart from re-formatting the hard disk!
