Text entities require a considerable amount of time to display and print, especially if you are using modest equipment and the drawings are very large. Autodesk provided a command QTEXT to overcome this limitation. When Quick Text is enabled, text entities are replaced by rectangular boxes that indicate the outline of the area occupied by the text as shown below.
When Quick Text is off (as it is by default), text entities are displayed normally as shown below.
CAD users sometimes inadvertently toggle the QTEXT option in IntelliCAD and AutoCAD to the ON position.
