Landscape Symbols [dwg]

We have developed a block (symbol) library for landscapers - a set of 90 AutoCAD/IntelliCAD landscape drawings. These are shown in the figures below. Each symbol has been created as a separate .dwg file and drawn inside a circle 1000 units in diameter. When inserted as an AutoCAD or IntelliCAD block, the scale factor can simply be altered as the symbol is placed e.g. typing 4 for the scale factor on insertion will place a plant species symbol with a canopy diameter of 4 meters (4000 mm) when working in the metric environment.

Tip If you are working in feet (and inches), the canopy diameter of each symbol is approx 3 feet. This value can be scaled on insertion or subsequently.

Each symbol occupies three layers, the 'fancy' symbol you see above is placed on a layer L-PLNT-SYMBOL, a simple circle and center point marker for generating a construction drawing by turning off the L-PLNT-SYMBOL layer is placed on a layer L-CONSTRUCTION and a layer L-PLNT-NAME containing hidden attributes is used to store information on botanical name, common name,  etc.

Tip These attributes can be extracted using the ATTEXT command in AutoCAD and IntelliCAD and passed to Excel to generate a planting schedule. Hint: Insert one instance of a symbol, use the ATTDEF command to fill out species name and common name details about the particular plant; then copy the symbol to indicate further instances of the same plant.

You will be directed to PayPal and can purchase a set of symbols (in dwg format) using your existing PayPal account, create a new PayPal account or, if you prefer, pay by credit card. PayPal securely hold your financial details, not us. At the completion of the payment, you will receive an email note with directions on how to download your symbol library.

Notes:

  1. Please note that you will need a copy of WinZIP to extract the landscape symbols. There are 90 separate files to extract, each has the extension .dwg and can be used in the usual Draw>Insert Block sequence while in the CAD drawing editor. We recommend placing the files in your AutoCAD or IntelliCAD block library and setting an appropriate path to those files.
  2. If you have any problems completing the transaction, please send us an email describing the difficulty and we will endeavour to remedy the problem.
