Catalogue template
If there is a requirement for a number of documents of similar type in your organization, using a template as a base for building for those documents makes sense. Here we describe the use of an InDesign template for a learning center catalogue. The 6 column design calls for a landscape format, a distinctive front cover with a single well-chosen image, a contents page and separate sections within the document for various programs the learning centre offers. Producing a new catalogue each quarter is a simple task. All that needs to be done is to replace images and update text.
Example front page
A paragraph text style text (CoverTitle) is used with a distinctive (but common) Windows font (Impact) and a named colour swatch style. The lead in text on the cover also uses a named paragraph style.

The document is divided into sections with each section being colour coded and having a distinctive band running across the center matching the section title to indicate the start of a section. The image below shows the first page in a section on programs for indigenous students.

The image below shows the first page of a section on Science and Technology. Note the change in the colour scheme to indicate the arrival at the next section.

Pages following each section introduction page are of necessity, dense with text as different programs are described in detail.
