Software training in Canberra

Although our main base is in Adelaide, South Australia, from time to time, we do offer sessions in Canberra. We try and visit Canberra each month and have done so for several years. We either work on-site in client premises or hire a training room in a suitable facility. We also support our Canberra based distance learning students while in town.

The price of training in Canberra is negotiable - $750.00 per day to a maximum of three people (where your company supplies a room) plus expenses. All charges are negotiable and can include access to the companion broadband learning site for the course as well as one-on-one tuition.

One scenario which we find works well for students in Canberra is to begin with the online version of the course and then when we visit, work in a group or one-on-one and focus on particular needs.

Flexible learning (distance) program

For individuals based in Canberra who are unable to join a group, perhaps because your software not commonly used, many of our courses are available by distance learning and broadband learning.

Our distance learning program - some preliminaries

Here are some steps to follow before enrolling in a distance course:

1. Our courses run in a web browser. If you are reading this page on your computer screen, you are using a browser. We prefer that you use Microsoft's Internet Explorer, rather than other browser software.

Please also check that you have a copy of the software that you intend learning on your computer. For example, if you want to learn to use Excel, you must have a copy of Excel installed and running correctly on your computer. We do not supply the software as part of the cost of the course!

2. Visit our courses page and print off a copy of the syllabus for your course if you have not already done so. The table toward the bottom of that page will outline the course content.

3. Make sure that you play at least one of the sample movies embedded within the course outline page. Our courses contain many instructional movies and we want to be reassured that your equipment works with the movies (which we make) to illustrate the use of the software.

These movies can also be found as links on our home page, but if you want to play one now, here is a link to one of the movies from our Excel course.

If the movie plays on your screen and you can see the mouse pointer moving and hear our commentary, then your computer is suitable for running one of our courses. Note that the Esc key can be used to terminate a movie at an early stage if required.

4. Finally, send us an order either by post to Design Cad Pty Ltd, P.O. Box 464, Marleston, SA 5033,  or (preferably) by email to info@designcad.com.au, making sure that you include the delivery address for the course materials and a purchase order if your company runs such a system. We will send a package to you and include an invoice in that package. We encourage payment by direct deposit to our bank. Please include the name of the person who will be taking the course and their email address. This information helps us support students in their learning.

Q. Is some form of certification provided?

A. Yes. We provide all students with a "Certificate of Achievement". For studenst taking computer aided design classes, a statement that a student has reached a satisfactory standard and completed a competent set of working drawings can also be added on request. Click here to view a copy of the certificate.

Q. Do you need a copy of the software loaded on your computer?

A. Yes.

Q. What methods of payment do you offer?

If you take a course as a distance student, on receipt of an official order from your company (a purchase order) or email note from you if you are studying privately, we will ship a CD-ROM (with a personal password to unlock modules in the course) and a set of course notes. An invoice will be included in the package. Payment can be by direct deposit to our bankers (BankSA). Details of our bank account is included on the invoice.

If you wish to pay by credit card, we use the PayPal system (www.paypal.com). PayPal offers a very secure  system for processing payment across the Internet and takes all major credit cards. PayPal acts as an intermediary between you and Design Cad. They will hold payment to us until you notify PayPal that you have received the course materials in good order.
